Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hello all my beautiful ladies!
I am SO happy to be here! This is my first post that is related to my YouTube channel, YAY!!!!! As I said on my channel I will be updating my blog to give you even more information about the products I use.

The look we are diving into today is... drumroll please... a smokey eye! Like there aren't enough ha! But this is my take on one of my many smokey eye & if I do say so myself, I am in love with it!

You can watch the video here!

So now to the part I know you are curious about, the products!

I almost always start my makeup looks with my eyes first. I find that it is just much easier to do my eyes first because I can tend to be a bit messy. With that being said, if I mess up or get eyeshadow, liner, mascara, etc in places it shouldn't be I can easily clean it off and my foundation will not be touched!

I always, always, always prime my eyes! If I do not prime them then there is practically no use in putting makeup on my eyes, it creases, gets everywhere and just looks plain awful! So here is my solution:)

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer, my holy grail of primers & concealers! This stuff is AMAZING! It holds my eye makeup in place all day long and it never creases on me!
I use shade NW20

Next is the eyeshadow. In this tutorial I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and let me just say that I am so in love it is ridiculous! These colors are not only absolutley gorgeous, they blend out AMAZINGLY but they smell like chocolate! Yes! I had to refrain from eating my eyeshadow while applying it!
I used Milk Chocolate as my transition shade, then I used Semi-Sweet to go back over it and darken it up a bit.

Next is my Makeup Geek Loose Pigment. GORGEOUS! I cannot say enough good things about Makeup Geek! I ordered 4 different loose pigments and I will be ordering literally every color. They are so gorgeous and multi dimensional, I just have to have them all!
I used the color Insomnia. They are currently out of stock but you can enter your email address and they will notify you when it is back in stock, trust me you won't regret buying it:)

Now, when I use a loose pigment they can get everywhere and this is no joke. I have found it in places I have no idea how it even ended up there so to avoid this I use a makeup setting spray. My current favorite is Urban Decay's Chill Makeup Setting Spray
You will not regret this! I use it for my loose pigments but I also spray it on my skin once my makeup is done. It helps to lock your makeup in for the day and it gives you such a gorgeous glow! I also use it even when I am not wearing makeup and it still looks just as beautiful! Definitely a wonderful investment!

The next thing I use is eyeliner. I was using gels for a while and while I do love my gel liners, I am obsessed with felt tip liners! They are so easy to use and look amazing when used correctly!
I have tried just about every felt tip out there and this is by far my favorite! The design of it makes it so easy to hold and apply! I have never had it transfer onto my lids & it stays all day long! Obsessed is an understatement.

Now for one of my favorites... MASCARA!
I have so many mascaras I could seriously survive for life, but of course I can never have enough:)
I have been using Maybelline Rocket Mascara for years and it has been my favorite though it all! I can always count on this mascara to make my eyelashes look gorgeous now matter how much of an attitude they have that day;)
I recommend this mascara to everyone and I have never had anyone say one bad thing about it! The brush is perfect in that it gets every single lash and coats them so evenly, they always look amazing! I use it in the blackest black shade!

Now for the false lashes!
I honestly never wore them that much until recently. Now, I don't wear them every day but when I do a full face of makeup I usually wear them. They are so simple to put on (after some practice) and just take the look to the next level! The lashes I used in this video were from Salon Perfect in the Demi Wispies.
I bought the 4 pack, such great eyelashes & a great deal!

Now we are onto the face!

I used the Maybelline Baby Skin to prime my face. I just recently bought it and so far I am loving it!
I put this on first then it's onto foundation!

Foundation time!
For this look I used Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup, boy is that a mouth full!
I use shade 3.5. I absolutely love this makeup! I am so picky about my foundation and this one is so light and it has great coverage, so it is perfect for me! I think y'all will love it too!

Time to cover up anything you don't want anyone to see! It's concealer time again!
Once again, I do use the Mac Pro Longwear concealer in shade NW20.
This is the same link as earlier but just for ease of use:)
I only use this particular concealer for priming my eyes and for under my eyes and also in between my brows on my forehead, the bridge of my nose, above my cupids bow and also on my chin. Basically all the areas where light is naturally going to hit your face.
If you have some breakouts you are wanting to cover then I suggest this concealer:
This is in the same shade, NW20. This is NOT the concealer you want to use for under your eyes. This is a very thick concealer and if you use it under your eyes it is going to look very cakey. I use this to cover up any unwanted breakouts ( I hate the word, zit. I mean that is just such an unappealing word to me.)

To set my undereye concealer I have been using this Physician's Formula powder:
http://www.physiciansformula.com/en-us/productdetail/face/pressed-powder/06212.html
The shade I use is Oh So Radiant!
I love this for under my eyes, it gives it such a pretty finish and sets my concealer for the day.

Now to keep that oil under control!
This is only for my ladies who have oily skin. As I get older I notice my skin changing practically every day and I have always been very oily but in these winter months I have noticed my skin has been dry. That is a whole other story, BUT to control my oil I have found this product & it is a miracle! I picked it up on an impulse because  I was curious to see if it really worked and my goodness am I glad I did! This thing is amazing!
http://www.walmart.com/ip/33700903?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227022637159&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=35312215141&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=63848686141&veh=sem
I use the sponge that they include with it. I swipe some onto the sponge and just dab it all over my face, don't drag it. After you apply it to your face all the oil will literally be gone! I was so happy that this product worked so well! All my shine was gone:)

Time for my favorite, BRONZER!!
Ahhh I absolutely LOVE highlighting & contouring! Now depending on the day, mood, weather, etc I will almost ALWAYS contour my face. The amount in which I contour varies but I just love it! My absolute favorite bronzer is Benefit's Hoola Bronzer. My mom had this bronzer for years and I always thought it was way too light but boy was I wrong! I had been wanting to try it for a while and I had heard so many good things about Hoola that I decided to give it a try!
http://www.sephora.com/hoola-P290636?icid2=Benefit_Cosmetics_Bestsellers_Carousel_P290636_image OR http://www.sephora.com/the-bronze-of-champions-P377273?icid2=Benefit_Cosmetics_All_Star_Kits_Carousel_P377273_image
I bought the Benefit The Bronze of Champions, I mean come on the packaging alone will sell me but I was on the hunt for a cream highlighter & Hoola and it was like they made this for me! I cannot even begin to explain how obsessed with this kit I am! I will eventually do a video with this whole kit but I am sold on everything in it! Seriously, go buy it now! You will not regret it!!! Benefit is without a doubt one of my favorite brands! This is a wonderful investment!

Blush!
Okay, so I honestly don't always use blush just because I have a pink flush to my face but I came across a blush palette and let me just say I am so happy I purchased it!
http://www.coastalscents.com/makeup/face/face-palettes/pl-012.html
As far as I know these do not have names (I will more than likely name them just so I don't confuse y'all!) but the shade I used today was the one on the top left. I would recommend this palette to EVERYONE! For the price you are probably thinking that there is no way they are any good, but let me tell you something, these are amazing!!! So incredibly pigmented and gorgeous! I can't say enough good things!

Highlighting time!
There has been a lot of hype behind Laura Mercier products and being the makeup junkie I am, you know I had to try hers out. I had been looking at her highlighting powder and I finally decided to purchase it and I am SO glad I did!
http://www.sephora.com/matte-radiance-baked-powder-compact-P379031?skuId=1522184
I ordered it in the shade Highlight 01. This is such a beautiful highlighter but be sparse. A little will go a long way. You can also use this a a color for you lids on your eyes and a highlight underneath your brows:)

Time to fill in those brows!
In high school I had thick, gorgeous brows and because I thought plucking them all out to look like caterpillars was the coolest thing in the world I am still paying for it. Bad idea. Now I am desperately trying to grow these bad boys out and slowly I am making progress, but thanks to this next product I have been helped even more! Benefit's Gimme Brow is one of the best beauty products I have ever purchased! It gives your brows more of a natural look but it does define them.
http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?keyword=gimme%20brow&skuId=1539246&productId=P379986&_requestid=166547
I am in the Light/Medium shade. The wand is like a mini mascara wand and it's awesome!
For this look I decided I want to define my brows a bit more so I used another product
Anastasia DipBrow Pomade.
http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?keyword=dipbrown&skuId=1578681&productId=P384060&_requestid=167133
I am in the shade Dark Brown.
This stuff is PERFECTION! It is waterproof AND smudgeproof! It's like it was made for me! I am notorious for rubbing off the product on my brows, I have a bad habit of touching my face throughout the day but this stuff is so awesome, I can't say enough good things about it. Seriously, go get yourself some! You won't regret it!

Time to define under our eyes!
I hardly every use eyeliner under my eyes, I prefer to use eyeshadow for multiple reasons.
1) It is SO much easier to work with
2) It looks much more natural
3) You have so many more color options
With all that being said I use a Sigma E15 brush and take the color Triple Fudge from my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and push that into my lower lash line. I only go to the middle of my eyes, since I have small eyes this helps to make them look bigger. Next I use my Sigma E30 brush and take the color Black Forest Truffle from that same palette and blend that in over the Triple Fudge. TAKE YOUR TIME when doing this. I wanted it to be defined but soft so do not rush this part!

The next part is totally optional but I have small eyes and if I put black in my waterline my eyes instantly look even smaller so I use white in my waterline! Any white liner will do but I have found one that I love because it stays so well.
http://us.rimmellondon.com/products/soft-kohl-kajal-eye-liner-pencil
This link will give you multiple links as to where to buy it.
I use it in shade 071 Pure White.

Now onto those bottom lashes!
I have very long bottom lashes so when I use eyeshadow under my eyes I almost always use mascara because if I don't it just tends to look odd. I used Benefit's They're Real from that same Benefit The Bronze of Champions kit.
http://www.sephora.com/the-bronze-of-champions-P377273?icid2=Benefit_Cosmetics_All_Star_Kits_Carousel_P377273_image
I love this mascara for my bottom lashes, it grabs them all and separates them and absolutely does NOT make them clumpy! Like I said, the whole kit is amazing!

And now for the last part of this look... THE LIPS!
I love, love, love wearing color on my lips! You can do a simple eye and wear a bold color on your lips and it just looks so sexy.
I used 3 products to create the final look on my lips.
The first thing I used was a NYX lip liner.
http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/p-117-slim-lip-pencil.aspx?widget=hide&utm_expid=42976356-14.kyEd6dHrRvuCCToSmW_Xfg.1&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F
I used the shade Pale Pink.
Next is lipstick.
I used Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick.
http://www.sephora.com/revolution-lipstick-P381305?skuId=1531888
I used the shade Rapture, it is a gorgeous dusty, pink color. Perfect for everyday!
And to top it off I used a Buxom lipgloss!
http://www.sephora.com/buxom-full-on-lip-polish-P174213?skuId=1589605
I used the shade Sophia.
This lip gloss is also a lip plumper and I was cautious about spend $19 on a lip gloss but they are well worth the money! It stays on amazingly, the colors are gorgeous and they give your lips a cooling feeling. Most lip glosses I've ever used come off within a short time of applying them but these are great! I am so surprised at the longevity of them! I highly recommend them!

Well my gorgeous babies, that is everything I used to create this look! I know this was an extremely long post but I wanted to be completely honest with you and let you know everything I used, links as to where to buy them and also what I thought of them. There is nothing worse than spending money on a product that you are lead to believe is going to be amazing and you get it and it is just the opposite. Obviously everyone will have different opinions but I truly hope that this will help y'all! I am SO excited to get the next video up and share even more with y'all! As always if you have any questions or comments please, please, please leave them below! I will do my best to answer all of them! I love each & every one of you & I will see your beautiful face soon!

There is a First Time For Everything

Hey y'all!

First off, let me thank you for taking the time out of YOUR day to spend a little time on my blog! I appreciate it more than I can express! My name is Beverly Jean & I am the creator of Southern Grace Glamour. I am obviously from the south! Texas to be exact and I am ridiculously proud to be a Texan! I created this blog as an extension of my YouTube channel, which features makeup tutorials, to try to help as many ladies as I can, even if it's something as simple as makeup! I have been doing makeup on girlfriends of mine for years and I've always had so many people tell me to go into this profession but I never took it seriously until recently. I discovered that by doing others makeup & hair and helping them feel beautiful, I in turn felt so fulfilled. I can be in sweat pants (I practically live in them), have no makeup on & my hair will be up in a messy bun, but as long as I am helping others feel beautiful, I get such a feeling of contentment & happiness knowing that I hopefully turned someone's day around or maybe taught them something that they didn't know before hand. Makeup is such a simple thing when you look at the grand scheme but it is so much fun, I just can't help myself! I would never encourage someone to wear makeup to make themselves feel truly beautiful. Makeup is not there for that, it is there to enhance how you already feel about yourself. Real beauty comes from deep down inside your heart. It doesn't matter what your physical features may be, if you have a good heart, that is what makes you beautiful, not a $45 foundation. I don't care if physically you are the most drop dead gorgeous woman on the planet, if you have an ugly heart & are mean to others then you will instantly become so unattractive to me and that beauty will wash away in the blink of an eye. I try my best to always make the best out of situations, look for the positives in everything & try not to judge others based on what I see in front of me. I know there is a higher power & only He can judge me! With all that being said, I am SO stinking excited to be here and share what I know with y'all! I will have a video up on my channel shortly & it will be linked here as well. I will also have a list for each video with all the products that were used, what I think of the products & links as to where they can be bought! I will have the links for my YouTube channel & my Instagram account up shortly so y'all can check those out as well! If you ever have any questions please, please, please do not hesitate to ask! I look forward to many years of blogging bliss:) See y'all soon!!!

Love, Beverly Jean
